If you’re planning on visiting Lanai in Hawaii there are some things you should know that’ll make your visit easier.

First, there is no direct flight to Lanai from the rest of the U.S. To get there you’ll have to first fly through Honolulu International Airport or HNL. You can also fly through Kahului Airport or OGG located in Maui. From these two airports you can then catch a flight to Lanai Airport or LNY. Another option is to take a ferry from Lahaina Harbor in Maui. There are five round trips every day. It only takes about an hour to get to Lanai via ferry.

There are three hotels you can stay at on Lanai. The Four Seasons Resort Lanai at Manele Bay and the Four Seasons Resort Lanai, The Lodge at Koele and the Hotel Lanai which is an Historic Landmark.

Lanai is a drier island than the rest of the islands in Hawaii and its weather is fairly

pleasant. It is a cooler island as well, the warmest it gets in Lanai City is about 72 degrees, so make sure you bring a jacket. Hulopoe Bay and Manele run about 10 to 12 degrees higher.

There is an island shuttle that travels island-wide. For a low fee you can jump on this shuttle at the Expedition Ferry, Hotel Lanai and the two Four Seasons Resorts.

The other way to travel is by renting a 4-wheel drive vehicle from Dollar Rent A Car in Lanai City.
